Liverpool Transfer News: Arsenal's £49m Sterling shock, done deal, new five-year contract
EXPRESS SPORT brings you all the latest transfer news coming from Anfield.
Raheem Sterling - Spotlight On
Arsene Wenger has revealed he was never interested in signing Liverpool's Raheem Sterling, who is closing in on a £49million move to Manchester City.
The Gunners boss said: "It is a good buy for Man City. It is an expensive one but they can afford it. We never considered it because he plays in an area where we have plenty of players."
Meanwhile, defender Glen Johnson - who left Liverpool this summer when his contract expired - has signed an initial two-year deal at Stoke, with an option of a third.
Potters boss Mark Hughes said on the deal: "Glen will be a fantastic addition to our squad. Having spoken to him I know how much he's looking forward to being a Stoke player."

And finally, the Reds look to have missed out on Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan, with reports in Italy suggesting he's signed a new contract at the Serie A giants.
Football Italia claim the 27-year-old has committed the next five years to the Giallorossi and will earn a reported £2.5m-a-season.
