ENGLAND and Manchester City defender Lucy Bronze has been named on the World Cup shortlist for the Golden Ball award.

The Lionesses were cruelly knocked out of the World Cup after semi-final defeat to Japan courtesy of a stoppage-time own goal from Laura Bassett.
However, Bronze's performances in Canada have caught the eye and she has been nominated for the player of the tournament award.

The City ace scored a stunning goal during England's 2-1 victory over Norway in the knockout stage.
She also found the back of the net in the quarter-final win over hosts Canada.
The other players nominated are United States trio Julie Johnston, Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe, France's Amandine Henry, Japan's Saori Ariyoshi and Aya Miyama and Germany's Celia Sasic.
