The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Real.
United are resigned to losing the Spaniard this summer, but the Red Devils aren't willing to compromise over their £35m asking price.
Spanish paper AS tweeted a picture of De Gea landing at Madrid Barajas International Airport.
However, he was keen to stress that he wasn't in the Spanish capital to clinch a deal.
When asked why he was in Madrid, De Gea said: "I am fine.

"I have just come home to have some rest."
De Gea has just 12 months left to run on his current United deal.
