Petr Cech: Why I quit Chelsea for Arsenal (not Man Utd or Liverpool)
PETR CECH has revealed why he chose to join Arsenal after leaving Chelsea.
Petr Cech - Spotlight On
Cech made the decision to move on after losing his place to Thibaut Courtois following 11 successful seasons at Stamford Bridge.
The 33-year-old completed a £10million switch to rivals Arsenal earlier this week.
Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sign Cech, while Manchester United and Liverpool were also linked with the Czech Republic goalkeeper.
But Cech - who was reportedly keen to stay in London - insists Arsenal perfectly matched his ambitions.
Petr Cech discussed his move to Arsenal in his homeland
"I realised last season how much I love big part of a team week in week out," he said.
"This is not the time for me to be sitting on the bench. It's a purely footballing reason.
"[Chelsea owner] Roman [Abramovich] had the very last word in the end. And I thank him for that.
"This was the hardest decision I had to make. Last season was a big factor, the manager made his decision - but this time it was my time to make a decision.
"Arsenal matches my ambitions, they want to win trophies."
