Newcastle's Steve McClaren to BATTLE Sunderland and West Brom with £4m bid for Derby star
STEVE MCCLAREN is lining up a summer move to sign Derby defender Richard Keogh.
Steve McClaren hopes to bring Richard Keogh to Newcastle this summer
The 28-year-old centre-half was McClaren's captain during his two seasons in charge at Derby, where he failed to gain promotion to the Premier League twice.
And now the 54-year-old tactician is keen to bring the Republic of Ireland international with him to St James' Park, and believes £4million will be enough.
However, the Guardian claim the Magpies boss will have to fend off interest from top-flight rivals Sunderland and West Brom for his signature.
Keogh, who joined the Rams in 2012 from Coventry City for a fee believed to be £1m, was named in last season's Championship Team of the Year.
