Alan Shearer URGES Charlie Austin to snub Liverpool and 'break records' at Newcastle
ALAN SHEARER has pleaded with QPR striker Charlie Austin to move to Newcastle and try and break his Premier League goalscoring record.
Charlie Austin looks set to leave QPR
Liverpool had been linked with a move for Austin, who was included in Roy Hodgson's most recent England squad.
The Reds deal to sign Danny Ings on a free transfer almost certainly puts an end to their interest in Austin, but Southampton reportedly remain keen.
But Shearer has urged Austin to link up with new boss Steve McClaren at St James' Park.
Shearer famously holds the record for most Premier League goals with 260 strikes to his name.
Some 148 of those came in the black and white stripes of Newcastle and Shearer wants Austin to inherit his number nine shirt on Tyneside.
