Liverpool eye former Manchester United first-team coach for assistant role
LIVERPOOL are reportedly considering providing a route back into the Premier League for Rene Meulensteen and making him Brendan Rodgers' assistant coach.

The Reds are currently undergoing a major overhaul of their back room staff, having sacked Colin Pascoe and deciding against renewing first-team coach Mike Marsh's contract.
Brendan Rodgers has already agreed a deal for Burnley striker Danny Ings, but he is hoping to create a stellar line up off the pitch too.
The Daily Telegraph claim Pako Ayestaran, who worked as Rafa Benitez's assistant during his spell at Anfield is keen on a return.
Meulensteen, who had unsuccessful spells at Fulham and Anzhi Makhachkala, is also in the frame for the role.
Rene Meulensteen could return to the Premier League
However, it is thought a move for the former Manchester United first-team coach would be controversial after he criticised Rodgers for not investing enough in his staff.
Meulensteen is currently working as a consultant for MLS outfit Philadelphia Union.
