Arsene Wenger impressed by Louis van Gaal's debut campaign in the Premier League
Van Gaal endured a difficult start to life in the Premier League but has overcome criticism to lead them back into the Champions League after a season’s absence.
The Dutchman was appointed last summer as the replacement for David Moyes, who was sacked following just 10 months at the helm.
He has shown that he has made progress during the season
And Wenger believes the former Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Ajax boss has progressed well throughout the season to show he has what it takes to succeed in England.
“I believe he has shown personality and character," Wenger said of the Red Devils manager. "He has shown that he has his own views and that he has made progress during the season.
"Overall, it wasn’t easy for him to come in. He had so many players to find the balance.
"It takes time to get to know the players and to know what clicks and what will work together and not and he has done that well."
