MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on a deal for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
That is according to the Metro, who suggest £37million talks to land the German World Cup winner are well underway.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen to improve the core of his defence when the transfer window reopens in the summer, and has reportedly put Hummels at the top of his wish list.

The club's sporting director Michael Zorc has said: "As far as I know, Hummel's contract still runs until 2017.
