The Blues played out a 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool yesterday.
Gerrard scored the equaliser before he was substituted by Lucas Leiva 21 minutes before the end of the game.
The 34-year-old was mocked by the Chelsea faithful during the game before they gave him a rousing applause when he was replaced.
He’s an absolute legend and to get that send-off from the Chelsea fans was a class act
And Terry believes it was a 'class act' from the Blues supporters.
"It was a very nice touch from the fans, when everything is put to one side, we’re big rivals but he’s an absolute legend and to get that send-off from the Chelsea fans was a class act," Terry told the club's official website.
Terry also paid tribute to Ruben-Loftus Cheek after he made his full senior debut for the club.

He added: "I thought Ruben was different class.
"Right from the word go he was at it and to make your debut against someone like Coutinho, who I think is one of the best players in the world at the moment, was a difficult job for him. I thought he was excellent and he can be very proud of himself."
