REVEALED: The REAL reason Louis van Gaal was looking at wine during Crystal Palace match
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Louis van Gaal raised questions about his focus yesterday after seemingly being caught looking at wine during the match against Crystal Palace.
Louis van Gaal was caught out against Crystal Palace
The match was a hard-fought affair with United needing a late goal from Marouane Fellaini to salvage a 2-1 victory.
But with a Champions League qualification spot seemingly on the line, Van Gaal raised the ire of United fans by appearing to have his mind of the post-match drinks list.
The Dutch manager was caught out when a gust of wind exposed what looked to be a wine catalogue on his clip-board.
Crystal Palace's teamsheet is sponsored by a vintners
Many United fans wondered why Van Gaal wasn't using the board to review his tactics in such a cagey affair.
But it turns out that there's a completely innocent explanation for the mix-up.
Instead of a wine catalogue Van Gaal simply had Crystal Palace's team sheet close at hand.
The Palace team sheet is sponsored by a Vintner's and supported by the restaurant owned by goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
And after Speroni's flap allowed Fellaini to nod home and give United all three points yesterday, we can only hope that the Argentine stopper was able to unwind with a bottle of his own produce yesterday evening.
It's not yet known, however, whether the advertising worked on Van Gaal.
