Bournemouth and Watford enter race for Manchester City defender Micah Richards
NEWLY-PROMOTED Bournemouth and Watford have joined the queue of clubs interested in Manchester City’s out-of-contract defender Micah Richards.
Micah Richards is out-of-contract at the end of the season
Tottenham, Sunderland, West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle are already considering a summer move for Richards, 26, who has spent the season on loan in Italy with Europa League semi-finalists Fiorentina.
Richards has the distinction of being the last English player to be involved in European competition this season - he is in the Fiorentina squad for tonight’s Europa League semi-final first leg against Seville in Spain.
Bournemouth have allowed seven players to leave the club including left-back Ian Harte.
The experienced former Republic of Ireland defender, the only squad regular of the seven this season, joins Josh McQuoid, Benji Buchel, Joe Partington, Mohamed Coulibaly and Miles Addison in departing after their contracts expired.
Manager Eddie Howe said: “This is the heartbreaking part of the job because we are losing some very good people and some fantastic characters.”
