FRASER FORSTER is awaiting the outcome of a scan after appearing to suffer a serious knee injury two days after being called up for England duty.
Fraser Forster awaits outcome on knee scan
Forster crumpled to the floor after making a clearance in the ninth minute, leaving substitute Kelvin Davis to produce a number of fine saves to ensure Ronald Koeman's Southampton remain in the hunt for a Champions League place.
It is looking bad
Forster will miss England's matches against Lithuania and Italy - with Rob Green and Jack Butland called up to the senior squad - and Koeman was not optimistic about the prognosis.
"It is looking bad," he said. "We have to wait for the scan but the doctor is not positive."
Davis denied Sam Vokes and Danny Ings either side of Shane Long's opener and remained rock solid as Saints took control when Jason Shackell diverted Ryan Bertrand's cross into his own goal in the 58th minute.
