Xavi is confident Lionel Messi would score even more goals in the Premier League
The Spanish midfield maestro believes the Premier League is less defensive than La Liga, leaving Messi more space to weave his magic.
Messi has scored an astonishing 287 goals for Barcelona in eleven seasons, four Ballon d'Or victories and countless other personal awards.
But surprisingly Xavi is confident Messi's tally would significantly grow if he played for one of the three English team's that could realistically afford him (Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea).
I think he’d be even better in the Premier League because it is not so defensive
Xavi
"I think he’d be even better in the Premier League because it is not so defensive.
"When defending against Barcelona, they [English clubs] play on a 1 v 1 basis, defending with passion, and a lot of energy.
"But Leo would find more spaces than in La Liga."
Not proving his credentials in England has always been held against Messi, but with four-years left on his deal - the frequently asked question of could he net on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke may never be answered.
