Vincent Kompany was pleased with a derby win[ACTION]
City edged a tight game thanks to a Sergio Aguero strike despite playing with an extra man for almost an hour after Chris Smalling was sent off.
And Manuel Pellegrini's side looked nervy in the final stages with United threatening to score an unlikely equaliser.
But Kompany hinted that City are yet to hit their best form after winning the league last season.
We are working everyday to make sure we are a better team than last year.

He told Sky Sports: "They played well towards the end, we had most of the chances but you miss a couple and you can seem to lose control of the game.
"Ultimately we stood strong, a clean sheet and a good derby win.
"You can only think about the next game and improve performances, we will gradually get there again. We are working everyday to make sure we are a better team than last year.
"The derby win is massive. For a minute, the league doesn't matter. It is a boost for us and we will do our job again in the Champions League on Wednesday."
