Chelsea News and Transfers: Sterling's REJECTION, Mourinho's Costa fear, Rodgers' debt
CHELSEA boss Jose Mourinho is sweating over Diego Costa's fitness ahead of their clash with Manchester United at the weekend, while Raheem Sterling was rejected by Arsenal and Spurs. Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to Mourinho.
Sterling has revealed he was overlooked by a cluster of top Premier League clubs before he joined Liverpool.
The Reds ace was linked to Chelsea as well when he was sold by QPR.
"Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, they all knew about Raheem. But their attitude was: 'Too small, too much baggage'," said QPR youth coach Kevin Gallen.
Mourinho is worried whether Diego Costa will be fit to face Manchester United.
Costa will miss the Champions League clash with Maribor after picking up an injury on international duty with Spain.
Mourinho said: "I have no idea how long he will be out. Tomorrow he cannot play. The weekend is not important right now - but he cannot play tomorrow."
Rodgers admits he is eternally grateful to Mourinho.
Rodgers worked under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge as the reserve-team coach for three years.
He said: "I will always be thankful to him for giving me the opportunity to train the reserve team and be close to his first team."
