Balotelli moved from AC Milan to Anfield in the summer for £16m, but has failed to hit the ground running.
The Italy international has bagged just once in his eight outings in all competitions, and was subsequently dropped to the bench for Saturday's win over West Brom.
And Mancini, who worked with the 24-year-old during his time in charge of Manchester City and Inter Milan, believes Balotelli knows Liverpool is his last chance to prove himself.

“Mario is a good guy, but he is aware that Liverpool is probably his final opportunity to prove what he can do on the pitch." Mancini said. "It’s his last chance.
“I often talk to him via text message, but only he can help himself now.
