Per Mertesacker: Arsenal have a long way to go to match Chelsea
PER MERTESACKER conceded Arsenal were very much second best at Stamford Bridge, and believes his side have a long to go to matching the standards set by Chelsea.
The Blues enjoyed a 2-0 victory yesterday courtesy of goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa to move nine points clear of their London rivals.
Moreover, it meant Jose Mourinho has not lost in 13 encounters against Arsene Wenger.
And Mertesacker delivered a brutally honest assessment of where Arsenal are in regards to Chelsea.
"I think we defended quite well," Mertesacker told Sky Sports.

"There was always a cover, there was always protection.
"In the final third we had a couple of decent possibilities to come through, but we missed the last pass or the last touch.

The Gunners have two weeks to regroup before they entertain Hull.
