United ended their unbeaten pre-season campaign with a 2-1 victory over Valencia last night, with Darren Fletcher opening the scoring and Marouane Fellaini claiming the winner in stoppage time.
And Van Gaal believes his side will face the Swans on Saturday with "great confidence", but believes there's still room for improvement.
"I enjoyed it," he said of his welcome from the fans. "Coming onto the pitch, the fans are shouting and screaming your name. It's also a big pressure.

"They expect a lot and you can't change everything in three or four weeks. And the players can't change either.
"We have to wait and see and develop. We need time but we have won every game up until now and that's fantastic when you see our opponents.
