VIDEO: Man Utd's Wayne Rooney goes the extra mile ahead of World Cup bid
MANCHESTER UNITED star Wayne Rooney has posted a video of himself training hard on holiday ahead of England's World Cup bid.
Three Lions coach Roy Hodgson said the striker was going to improve his fitness after missing out on the last few weeks of the season.
Rooney is yet to score in the finals of a World Cup, but appears determined to change that by putting in the extra work.
And when announcing the 23-man squad for the trip to Brazil earlier this week, Hodgson had no problems over Rooney.
He's going to Portugal with two fitness coaches
He said: "Wayne's so determined to be up and running when we get there on the 19th.
"He's going to Portugal with two fitness coaches.
"I don't know exactly who but [Manchester United fitness coach] Tony Strudwick has been in touch with us.
"He wanted to know about the pitch in Vale de Lobo.
"His attitude is that he's desperate to be up and running on the 19th. I'm not as desperate for him to be fully fit on the 19th.
"I'm thinking more of June 14 (when England play Italy).
"It's still quite laudable that that's the way he thinks and I'm not trying to dissuade him.
"But if I do get there on the 19th and the fitness people say he needs two or three days, I won't be shedding any tears."
