Sunderland beat West Brom to down Canaries
SUNDERLAND con?rmed their Premier League survival last night with a 2-0 victory that relegates Norwich instead.
The Black Cats – seven points adrift at the bottom a month ago – are safe after beating fellow strugglers West Brom.
Jack Colback and Fabio Borini both scored as Gus Poyet’s side completed a remarkable revival.
Poyet said: “I don’t know if you’re going to see something similar ever again. We are the second team in the history of the Premier League to have been bottom at Christmas and stay up.”
But Norwich, third from bottom, know they are doomed. The Canaries could draw level on points with West Brom on Sunday if they beat Arsenal and the Baggies lose at home to Stoke, but Albion’s vastly superior goal difference will keep them safe.
