Arsene Wenger's future in doubt as Arsenal boss ponders over Gunners future
ARSENE WENGER'S future at Arsenal was clouded again last night when he suggested he could still opt out of signing a new contract.
Wenger has insisted repeatedly he is fully committed to the club he has served for 18 years, saying he had given his word on signing a new deal this summer.
But yesterday at the end of a week that has all but ruined the Gunners' dream of challenging for the Premier League title again, when asked again if he would definitely sign, Wenger replied: "Yes...unless I decide otherwise."
The 64-year-old is keen to carry on having overseen the move to the Emirates that has hampered his team building in recent seasons. But nine years without a trophy have clearly left him questioning if he can take the club any further.
I want to have a feeling coming out of the season that I have done the maximum for the club
If Arsenal do not remedy that in the FA Cup - they are through to the last four - Wenger may decide the Gunners need someone new in charge:
"I want to have a feeling coming out of the season that I have done the maximum for the club," he said. "Of course I question myself a lot. If I have one quality - or one flaw - it is maybe that."
