Kagawa gets placed on the bench for United once again [GETTY]
The Japanese playmaker transferred from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2012, but has failed to nail down a regular starting position for the Red Devils.
Despite not meeting expectations - having scored 29 goals and assisting 16 times for the Bundesliga outfit - the United fans still eager to see Kagawa in action.
You've got to feel sorry for Kagawa. Can't even get in the team ahead of Cleverley.
The 24-year-old attacker has had his chance at Old Trafford, but has struggled to find any sort of form in England's top-flight and has been used as a rotation player for cup ties.
It was expected that Kagawa would be selected in place of Juan Mata, with the former Chelsea man inelegible for the match.
However, a number of United fans are outraged that the likes of Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Tom Cleverly have been chosen over Kagawa for tonight's trip to Greece.
@ManUtd very bad team selection. Expected Kagawa to play instead of Mata with same formaton. #mufcAthens
