The win at Anfield sees Liverpool go within four points of top spot, and Rodgers will be hoping that his deadly duo can continue to fire in the goals.
The Kop boss said: "It's an outstanding result for us and the game typified the character of this team.
"(Sturridge) is a terrific finisher. We're very strong at home and when we get that early goal, it gives us the confidence.
"There's Jordan Henderson with his two as well. We've asked him to get forward more, get into the box. He was outstanding."
