Olivier Giroud has issued a public apology on Twitter [GETTY]
Just hours before being benched for Arsenal's FA Cup clash with Liverpool, Giroud said sorry in response to reports alleging he met model Celia Kay in a London hotel.
The incident is said to have taken place the night before Arsenal's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on February 2.
I apologise to my wife, family and friends and my manager, team-mates and Arsenal fans.
Despite previously denying the claims, the 27-year-old tweeted: "I apologise to my wife, family and friends and my manager, team-mates and Arsenal fans.
"I now have to fight for my family and for my club and obtain their forgiveness. Nothing else matters at the moment."
