Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has shuffle his deck following their 2-0 defeat to Hull, with only John O'Shea and Fabio Borini retaining their places.
And Poyet has handed a debut to Argentinian striker Ignacio Scocco.
Southampton have also made changes after their 1-0 victory over Hull on Tuesday night, with Victor Wanyama and James Ward-Prowse coming into midfield and Kelvin Davis in goal.
Rickie Lambert, who has scored 11 goals this season, starts up front.
