Roberto Martinez admitted luck wasn't on Everton's side [PA]
Tottenham came out on top courtesy of an Emmanuel Adebayor strike, although they registered only one shot on target the entire 90 minutes.
Martinez rued the fact his side didn't capitalise when chances came their way and believes his side's performance augurs well for the rest of the season.
"We imposed ourselves. In football, sometimes it is better to be lucky than good," Martinez said.
"You need to hit back of net when you get chances that come your way. Hugo Lloris was outstanding when called upon.
Despite a mini wobble, Martinez has failed to write off Everton's top four chances.
He added: "We're fighting against ourselves. When you perform in this manner, we are capable of anything- 13 games means there are a lot of points to play for.
"The way the league is developing into one of most exciting finishes to season ever."
