PRIORITY: Moyes believes Strootman is the man to solve Utd's midfield crisis [GETTY]
The Manchester United boss is set to wield the axe this summer as he rebuilds for next season, and Dutch international Strootman, 23, has quickly become one of his top transfer targets.
Moyes is keen to add a world-class midfield general to his squad as he looks to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea for the title next year.
Strootman has quickly become one of the best midfielders in Italy since his £15million summer move, and is a key component in the Roma side which sits second in Serie A.
STAR: The Dutch international is one of Roma's key players [GETTY]
__BREAK1__
Man Utd are desperate to land a top midfielder after seeing £27million Marouane Fellaini fail to find his feet.
Moyes is also aware that reliable stars such as Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher aren't getting any younger, and views Strootman as a worthwhile long-term investment.
The ex-PSV man is known as the 'Dutch Roy Keane' due to his no-nonsense tackling and sensible passing, and could allow the likes of Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney to attack with freedom and flair.
