Magpies goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman and Saints counterpart Toni Jimenez were both sent off as a scuffle ensued in the dugout following a meaty challenge on Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara.
And Pochettino believes it is a side of the game the fans do not wish to see.

"I think it is avoidable but in a high-intensity game such as that, any little spark can lead to something else and I think that's what happened," said Pochettino.
"From our point of view, it's something that we regret and that we don't want ever to happen again."
