Chelsea missed trick in not snapping up Villa's Christian Benteke says Tony Cascarino
CHELSEA missed a trick in not signing Aston Villa frontman Christian Benteke in the summer according to Tony Cascarino.
Jose Mourinho ended up plumping for Samuel Eto'o instead while Benteke performed a u-turn and stayed at Villa Park.
Benteke's form last season had piqued the interest of Arsenal and Spurs.
And Cascarino believes Benteke would have represented a statement signing for Mourinho.
"I felt that would have been a massive statement. He’s the type of the player they needed in the way they play," Cascarino told talkSPORT.
"The way Mourinho’s teams have played over the years, he loves that physical man, and he doesn’t have it.
"He has three forwards and doesn’t know which one to pick.
“It would have made a huge difference [getting Benteke in].”
