Arsenal's Olivier Giroud says he wanted Liverpool's Luis Suarez to come to London
ARSENAL'S in-form marksman Olivier Giroud has admitted he would loved to have teamed up with Liverpool's Luis Suarez this summer.
The Frenchman has hit the ground running this season, netting in all of the Gunners' four Premier League games.
Suarez was the subject of a £40m plus £1 bid from Arsenal that was turned down by Liverpool and Giroud believes the Gunners would have benefitted from his versatility.
"When the name of Suarez was circulating, I honestly thought it was a good thing for the team," Giroud told L'Equipe.
"We would've complemented each other. Suarez can also play out wide.
"It would have been difficult for me with another player."
Giroud however didn't seem so fussed about Higuain's prospective arrival.
He added: We would have been in direct competition because he is a pure central striker.
"Of course, at the time, it would have bothered me a bit but I was not afraid of competition."
