CONFIRMED: Christian Eriksen joins Tottenham from Ajax
TOTTENHAM have announced the signing of Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Spurs confirmed their third signing of the day on Twitter, after also announcing deals for Vlad Chiriches and Erik Lamela earlier in the day.
A club statement read: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Christian Eriksen."
Ajax boss Frank de Boer has lamented the departure of Eriksen and said he would be tough to replace at the Dutch club.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, De Boer said: "His departure is a huge loss because Chris [Eriksen] is terribly important."
But De Boer insists Eriksen's move will not sour his relationship with the player.
He added: "We always have and always will get along. He is great footballer and a perfect professional. He is an ideal player for any coach."
Quizzed on whether he expects Eriksen to succeed in the Premier League, De Boer said: "It would surprise me if that were not so."
And the Ajax boss has some doubts about how the club will fare in the Eredivisie and Champions League in Eriksen's absence.
He said: "That depends on whether we are able to loan or buy players, not at the level of Eriksen but close to it.
"We have a lot of guys with talent, but they are not yet able to play three games at the highest level in eight days."
Earlier this week Ajax director of football Marc Overmars confirmed that Spurs had been given permission to speak to Eriksen.
