Thiago Alcantara has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United
The 22-year-old midfielder has been a top target for United for a while and it was thought that they were close to a deal for him.
His current release clause has been set at around £15m which is well within United's means, and the Spain Under-21 star is believed to be after regular football after featuring in less than 60% of matches for the Catalan giants last season.
Though Barcelona have been tight-lipped about his future, they have confirmed he will resume pre-season training with his team-mates.
"We have the players we have and Thiago is one of them," Barcelona spokesman Toni Freixa told Spanish radio station Radio Catalunya.
