Manchester United keep tabs on Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman
DAVID MOYES has dispatched scouts to watch transfer target Kevin Strootman in action for Holland at the European Under-21 Championship this summer.
Manchester United boss Moyes has been tracking the Dutch midfielder since his time at Everton - and is weighing up bringing the 23-year-old to Old Trafford.
Chief scout Jim Lawlor was reportedly spotted at the youth tournament in Israel recently, to watch Strootman who started both games as Holland beat Germany and Russia.
Although the PSV midfielder refused to discuss any alleged interest from the Red Devils after Sunday's 5-1 thrashing of Russia, United are thought to be considering bidding for Strootman.
Reports on the continent claim Strootman was the principal focus for Lawlor in scouting the Under-21 action, although he may have been watching other youngsters such as Russian winger Alan Dzagoev.
With Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas appearing to rule out a move away from the Nou Camp this summer, Strootman could become a viable option for Moyes who is keen on adding to his ranks in midfield.
It is believed that PSV are demanding a fee of around £17 million for the all-action Dutchman - who is open to the idea of moving to Old Trafford - but Moyes would prefer to offer closer to £10m.
