Real Madrid strike agreement with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez
LIVERPOOL look destined to lose star player Luis Suarez after it emerged that Real Madrid have an agreement in place with the Uruguyan.
Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to Real this week, after initially hinting at their interest during a trip to his homeland.
Speculation has increased over the past few days - fuelled by both Real and Suarez - with Liverpool out of the loop.
And after the 25-year-old admitted it was the right time 'for a change of environment' reports in Spain have indicated that the Spanish giants agreed terms with the striker weeks ago.
Spanish sports paper Marca reports that there is an agreement in place between Real and Suarez over a summer transfer, and all that is left to push through the move is a £40 million release clause in the player's contract.
Liverpool will not budge in their valuation of the marksman - who scored 23 Premier League goals last season - and it is now up to Bernabeu officials to find the resources necessary to sign the former Ajax hitman.
A potential obstacle is Real's determination to sign Gareth Bale, who will cost upwards of £60m, in the same summer as the move for Suarez.
But the Spaniards are trying to offload a number of squad players to help finance their raid on the Premier League, starting with the sales of Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria.
Liverpool have already begun preparing for Suarez's departure, and are close to announcing the signing of Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas.
