Manchester United and Chelsea target Marouane Fellaini committed to Everton
MAROUANE FELLAINI has handed incoming boss Roberto Martinez a huge boost by pledging his future to Everton.
The midfielder has been tipped to follow former Goodison Park boss David Moyes to Manchester United. He has also been linked with Chelsea.
But Fellaini has declared himself ready to stay at Everton as he prepares for Belgium’s World Cup campaign next year.
He said: “My destiny lies at Everton. It’s as simple as that. We’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in England.
“The foundations and framework are in place and the manager’s departure doesn’t change anything for me. I’m not staying for the sake of stability ahead of the World Cup – it’s because I think Everton have exciting challenges ahead.”
Martinez met Everton chairman Bill Kenwright in London yesterday.
Talks took place at the Landmark Hotel, less than 24 hours after Martinez had resigned as Wigan boss. It is understood that Kenwright has other interviews to conduct, including at least one foreign coach.
