West Ham to open talks with Liverpool over Andy Carroll
WEST HAM are set to open talks with Liverpool over a permanent move for striker Andy Carroll – and hope to finalise a deal in the next few weeks.
Carroll has become a fans’ favourite at Upton Park following his season-long loan move from the Merseyside club at the start of the season.
Co-owner David Sullivan said: “We would love to keep him beyond this season and we will soon be sitting down with Andy and Liverpool to make some progress on that front.”
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce had initially thrown doubt over the chances of a permanent deal for the England international, but now the two clubs will discuss a summer move.
Meanwhile, Allardyce's Hammers have given a trial to Honduras international striking prodigy Junior Lacayo, who has flown to London with club chief Martin Fajardo.
And the East London outfit are unlikely to stop their in securing new recurits for next season with Sullivan revealing West Ham are targeting 'four or five' summer signings.
“Our aim for the coming season is to bring in four or five players that will strengthen the squad," he Sullivan.
