West Ham target striker among five new summer signings
WEST HAM co-owner David Sullivan says the club are hoping to sign at least four players during the summer – including a big-name striker.
Sullivan said: “Our aim for the coming season is to bring in four or five players that will strengthen the squad.
“We will be aiming to bring in at least one proven goalscorer to further bolster our attacking threat.”
Speculation as to who that 'proven goalscorer' is will invariably focus on loan forward Andy Carroll, who was recently tipped by West Ham midfielder Joe Cole to sign on permanently basis at the Hammers.
However, Sam Allardyce has revealed concerns over the financial details of a transfer for the 24-year-old, and has lined up Eredivisie hitman Wilfried Bony in the event Liverpool price Carroll out of a move to Upon Park.
West Ham's summer plans appear to be taking shape, with Romania captain Razvan Rat coming in on a free transfer and defender Winston Reid agreeing a new two-year contract.
Meanwhile, loanee Ravel Morrison could be set for another year in the Championship at Birmingham City next season.
