Middlesbrough 2 Portsmouth 2: Williams family fortunes on rise
MIDDLESBROUGH 2 PORTSMOUTH 2: IT WAS a family affair at the Riverside as Boro midfielder Rhys Williams confirmed his status as a rising star, while his brother Ryan, 17, made his first-team bow for Pompey.
Williams senior looked to have wrapped up the points with a second-half strike, only for Luke Varney to grab a late equaliser.
“It made my day to see my little brother make his debut and it is great to be part of that,” said Rhys. “He is only 17 and hopefully will have a bright future. My mum flew over from Australia so it was fantastic we both played.”
Rhys Williams is being watched by a host of Premier League clubs and it was easy to see why as Boro bossed the midfield.
“I can see me playing in the Premier League but I am confident that will be with Boro,” said Williams. “I’m very happy and we’re going to start talking about a new contract soon.”
Boro had only Marvin Emnes’ effort to show for their early dominance and two minutes after the break David Norris netted the equaliser.

Ryan Williams said: “It was a dream to make my debut against Rhys and I was happier at the end as they probably deserved the three points."
