Premier new boys ‘rip off’ fans on prices
PREMIER LEAGUE new boys Swansea and QPR have been accused of fleecing fans after a survey found they will be two of the most expensive clubs to follow next season.
A BBC report into matchday prices found the price of a ticket, programme, pie and cup of tea will set supporters at both clubs back nearly £43 - a price tag surpassed only at Anfield and the Emirates.
A day out to watch Liverpool came in at £46.50 and Arsenal £44, but Blackburn and Newcastle provide the same package for just £17.50 – and there has been an angry reaction from fans who accuse boards of cashing in on the clubs’ success.
There are a limited amount going every day. The price has gone up due to supply and demand.
Prices at QPR, who won the Championship title last season under Neil Warnock, start at £35 and Swansea have raised their prices by more than 20 per cent to the same figure, but chairman Huw Jenkins said: “We’ve sold every ticket in the ground.
“There are a limited amount going every day. The price has gone up due to supply and demand.
“We have got only 1,500 tickets to sell on the day - the rest of the ground is sold to season-ticket holders.”
