Showpiece semi fails to attract 5,000 supporters
MOTHERWELL and St Johnstone have sold fewer than a paltry 5,000 tickets between them for Saturday's Scottish Cup semi-final clash.
The Steelmen have sold more than 3,000 seats while Saints have flogged just over 1,400 of their briefs - which is a 10th of the Hampden capacity
The pair go head-to-head at the national stadium for a place in the Scottish Cup final but the match looks like it could be played in a deserted atmosphere.
The attendance also won't be helped as the match will be broadcast on the BBC and on satellite television.
SFA officials have tried to boost attendances for both semis by offering reduced-priced tickets
Meanwhile, Aberdeen have sold 6,000 tickets for their semi-final clash with Celtic. Dons bosses expect to sell a further 1,000 before Sunday's showdown with the Hoops expected to shift around 20,000 in the coming days.
SFA officials have tried to boost attendances for both semis by offering reduced-priced tickets for children but so far it hasn’t helped boost numbers for the showpiece tournament.
