Frank Lampard 'could sign for a Premier League club' as Coventry boss given strong advice
The Chelsea icon's team have stormed into the Championship playoffs.

One of Frank Lampard’s former team-mates has backed the Chelsea legend to manage again in the Premier League. The 46-year-old has overseen a rapid resurgence at Coventry after taking charge in November, with the Sky Blues now in contention for promotion from the Championship.
Lampard’s side were 17th when he started his tenure. However, they now lie fifth after five wins from six games before the international break and are on course for a playoff place. The run of form has helped restore Lampard’s managerial reputation after being sacked by Everton and his ill-fated return to Chelsea as interim boss in the 2022/23 campaign.
Now, William Gallas, who played alongside Lampard at Stamford Bridge during the first two title wins over Jose Mourinho, to get his side back in the top flight. The Frenchman also believes the ex-England midfielder has proved critics wrong.
“After what happened to Frank Lampard, we had to be patient,” he told Spin Genie. “He is doing well right now with Coventry City, if he can give them the chance to get into the Premier League, that would be the best thing for him.”

Gallas also argued Lampard could now depart for a side already established in the top division but warned him his best option would be to remain in the Midlands, adding: “He knows the club, the players and the fans and everything is positive around him so that would be the best way back into the Premier League for him.
“That's why you have to be a little bit more patient and not straight away jump on a new opportunity. He could maybe sign for a club in the Premier League at the moment, because he's a good manager but he can still improve.”

Lampard took Derby County to the playoff final in the 2018/19 campaign before leaving for his first tenure at Chelsea and later helped Everton stave off relegation before being sacked the following season. Gallas thinks his former club's record goalscorer should take heed of his past experiences when considering his future.
“Unfortunately for him, he didn't have success when he was in the Premier League as a manager.” he said. “He has more positive moments in the Championship. That's why the best thing that can happen for him is Coventry City to go to the Premier League. That will be the best story for him.”
