Thomas Tuchel has reportedly issued a significant transfer request to the Manchester United board if he is to replace Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford hot seat.

The Red Devils are contemplating bringing in the German manager if Ten Hag gets the boot. The Dutchman has had a rocky start to the 2024/25 season, with the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, having only secured two victories in seven matches.

A crucial meeting involving all the key players at the club was held on Tuesday in London, and it's expected that Ten Hag's future as head coach post-international break will be decided in the upcoming days.

Ronald Araujo

According to the Manchester Evening News, Tuchel is among the candidates being considered for the role. The 51-year-old is currently jobless after parting ways with Bayern Munich at the conclusion of the previous season and is arguably the most sought-after coach available right now.

Tuchel, who clinched the Champions League title with Chelsea after taking over mid-season, was also linked with the United job during the summer. Now, reports suggest that he has made a crucial demand to the United board if he is to join the club.

Barcelona are pulling out all the stops to persuade Tuchel's target Araujo to pledge his future to the club. It's believed that plans are underway to officially kick off negotiations at the beginning of 2025.

The Uruguayan is highly regarded in football circles but is presently recuperating from a long-term injury.

United strengthened their central defence over the summer with the signings of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt. However, in the match against Aston Villa, Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans were chosen to start, leaving Lisandro Martinez and De Ligt on the bench.
