Jose Mourinho reportedly did not attend his post-match press conference and walked out of the stadium after his Fenerbahce side lost 3-1 to Turkish rivals Galatasaray.

At home, Mourinho's new outfit found themselves 3-0 down after an hour had been played inside an irate Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, before an Edin Dzeko penalty reduced the arrears.

An own goal by goalkeeper Dominic Livakovic gave the visitors the lead in the first half, before goals from Dries Mertens and Gabriel Sara put Galatasaray in dreamland so early in the season.

And Mourinho, who was spotted furiously gesturing on the touchline throughout the match, did not attend his press conference after the match according to Turkish outlet Sports Digitale.

He instead left the stadium despite coming to the press room on two occasions, but he was unable to speak to the media after an hour had passed from the final whistle.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United did give a TV interview, however, bluntly expressing his thoughts on the match: “It will be seen as a stupid answer but they won because they scored more goals than us.”

“We started the match fast, we dominated but it didn’t matter. After all, we risked everything after 3-1 but this situation doesn’t mean anything. It doesn't matter how many we missed. We only scored from the penalty spot. They won because they scored more goals.

"I cannot accept the blame for those who entered the game later. The opponent scored from two throw-ins, it is not their fault, it is our fault.

“I don’t think Galatasaray played much better or superior than us. However, they managed to convert the positions they had into goals. We couldn’t score.”

Mourinho's side had been unbeaten in all competitions coming into the clash, albeit second in the league table behind Galatasaray with five wins from their opening five matches.

Spearheaded by Victor Osimhen, who arrived in Istanbul after a deadline-day move to Chelsea from Napoli collapsed, the visitors kept up their perfect record with victory over their local rivals - much to Mourinho's despair.
