Manchester United are on the verge of completing a huge double deal for £60million as Erik ten Hag continues to spend to assemble his squad for the new Premier League season.
The Red Devils are splashing out on Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt, with the Dutch centre-back poised to sign a long-term contract ahead of his £43m transfer. De Ligt will be joined by his Bayern team-mate Noussair Mazraoui after a £17m package was agreed with the Bundesliga giants, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka's impending move to West Ham freeing up a space for the right-back.
But Ten Hag could yet bring in further reinforcements following their Community Shield penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City as INEOS CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe weighs up providing further backing to the the Dutchman.

With both players' medicals reportedly in the can, Manchester United are primed to announce the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Preparations for Friday's Premier League opener against Fulham will be in full effect tomorrow, and it's likely both players will be involved in training.
Expect official word from United on one or both of Erik ten Hag's new defenders as early as tomorrow morning!
Graeme Souness is unconvinced Matthijs de Ligt will prove to be a success at Manchester United ahead of his £43million transfer from Bayern Munich.
"He knew what he was going to get from the other players he got from Ajax and I don't think anyone is jumping up and down and saying how fabulous they've been," Souness told talkSPORT.
"I'm doubtful about De Ligt, I'm sorry. He didn't get into the [Dutch] national team at the Euros. He was only a squad player.
"When you look at his profile, he's been at two enormous football clubs. Those kind of clubs don't usually like to sell players, they hold onto their best players. That in itself tells a story.
"He was a star as a boy, but has he progressed since then? I'm not sure if he's what Manchester United need at this time.
"They definitely need a centre-half because Jonny Evans played a lot of games. He's 36. But is De Ligt the one?
"When I look at him, I see a lightweight centre-half. Was there a queue of other teams wanting to buy him? I don't think there was."
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has doubts over whether Matthijs de Ligt will prove to be a good signing.
De Ligt will complete a £43m switch from Bayern Munich in the coming days after a difficult season.
"Matthijs de Ligt is a confident player and a leader in his own right, but he has struggled to maintain his form in the years since leaving Ajax," Saha told CSDB.
"Having said that, I think the Premier League is a good fit for him and it will provide him that extra motivation to get back to his very best."
He added: "There is also the surprise element of having him come from abroad so strikers might not know how to play against him."
Manchester United aren't expected to announce the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui tonight.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Bayern Munich defensive duo have completed their medicals at Carrington ahead of their £60m joint-arrival.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, United aren't expected to make their arrivals official tonight.
A Tuesday announcement is likely, though, because Erik ten Hag will be keen for them to train as soon as possible ahead of Friday's season opener against Fulham.

Lee Sharpe has told Erik ten Hag to improve three things on the pitch if he wants to avoid the Manchester United sack this season.
"I think they obviously need to stop letting other teams create so many chances and scoring so many goals," the former United winger told Express Sport on behalf of Safest Casino Sites.
"The goal difference last year was a bit of a shambles. They need to be a little bit more clinical and composed in front of goal because they create a lot of chances but don't put the chances away.
"And there's got to be more consistency in games. We've seen that they can show brilliance in certain parts of games and then really struggle in the same game that they've been dominant in.
"So I think consistency in games, score more goals and don't let as many in. It's pretty basic football knowledge.
"And as far as where the team finishes, the manager has shown he can win cups, so I want another good cup run.
"I think he's already come out and said top four is not imperative, but I think they obviously will be chasing that.
"I just [want] more consistent and better performances throughout the season, and he keeps his job."

Manchester United have decided against signing free agent Mario Hermoso after informing the player’s camp of their decision.
The Red Devils were offered the chance to sign the Spain international, 29, following his release from Atletico Madrid.
United's transfer chiefs reportedly discussed the possiblity of signing centre-back Hermoso. But Spanish outlet AS claim they have rejected the chance of snap him up on a free transfer.

United boss Erik ten Hag wants both players available to face Fulham, which won't be an issue in terms of fitness as both De Ligt and Mazraoui have played in pre-season for Bayern Munich.
The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and MLS clubs, with United exploring cutting their losses on the ageing £70m midfielder.
