The board discussed “a number of proposed bids” at a meeting yesterday and have received interest from various parties including Chinese entrepreneur Kenny Huang and Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi.
It is understood no legally-binding bid has so far been made and Broughton admitted the time frame for the sale is uncertain. But he is determined to make sure the club does not fall into the wrong hands again.
A statement said: “The board will continue to act in the best interests of the club and its supporters, doing all that it can to ensure that the club is ultimately sold to a buyer who has the resources and real commitment to give it a long-term, stable and secure funding position for its plans. The sale process is continuing. However, its timing and outcome remain uncertain.”
