Liverpool face £68m Man City fight for star Germany players felt 'shouldn't be at Euros'

Eberechi Eze has been subject to interest from Liverpool and Manchester City after an impressive campaign with Crystal Palace and England.

Crystal Palace jewel Eberechi Eze has a line of suitors interested in his services with Liverpool and Manchester City looking to battle it out for his signature. The 26-year-old enjoyed the most fruitful campaign of his career last season where he scored 11 goals and contributed six assists for the Eagles who finished 10th in the Premier League following a resurgence under new boss Oliver Glasner.

Not only did Eze's performances for his club earn him a call-up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024 but the attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur with the reigning league champions reportedly weighing up a £68million move for the Three Lions star.

The ex-QPR star could be in place to become the long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who is a key target for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, who've already gone shopping in the English top-flight this month after agreeing a £50m move for Aston Villa's Moussa Diaby after just one season at Villa Park.

Having already lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich this summer, Palace may be resigned to losing another star player who has three years left on his contract, with a release clause of £60m plus add-ons. Having spent four years in south London, the Greenwich-born attacker may see this as the perfect opportunity to level up in his career and solidify his presence within the England senior team.

Having made three appearances during England's run to the Euro 2024 final, and with only four caps to his name before the tournament, Eze was one of several players chosen by Southgate that left many members of the Die Mannschaft squad "stunned" due to their inexperience in major tournaments, according to the Independent.

Eze's potential arrival in Manchester would most likely spell the end of De Bruyne's nine-year stint with the Citizens as the Belgian last month admitted the lure of a big-money contract in Saudi Arabia is a proposition he will seriously consider. Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, he said: "I still have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen.

"My eldest is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way. At my age, you have to be open to everything. You're talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that.

"If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that, I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet. Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment I haven’t had to think about that yet."
