Former Premier League star, Jose Enrique is of the view that a Manchester United exit may prove beneficial for Marcus Rashford.

Rashford, 26, has had quite a rollercoaster ride at Old Trafford over the past two years, with both his performances and the team as a whole coming under scrutinising. The striker hit impressive highs early in his career but has found it challenging to maintain form under Erik ten Hag, especially following Alejandro Garnacho's breakthrough.

This situation has pushed the English star from his natural left-wing position into a more central role.

Rashford was consistently splashed in the headlines during United's most shocking top-flight football performance in three decades, frequently warming the bench and being left out of the team. Consequently, due to his dip in form, Gareth Southgate did not include Rashford in his preliminary squad of 33 players for the European Championships in Germany.

Rashford has boldly expressed his commitment to United and was visibly emotional after their FA Cup final victory against Manchester City, last month. However, Enrique believes that Rashford may see a revival in his football career if he were to consider transferring abroad, suggesting clubs such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich may be destinations worth considering, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"Rashford needs to leave Manchester United a move abroad may help him," he expressed to Grosvenor Sports.

He added: "I think Marcus Rashford needs to leave Manchester United. I think he needs to move to another country, Germany or Spain perhaps. Especially if Joao Felix doesn't continue at Barcelona, Rashford could definitely go and play on that left side.

"I also think Bayern Munich could be a good option for Rashford. I believe Leroy Sane only has one year left on his contract there, so I could definitely picture Rashford as a good replacement for him in the Bundesliga.

"Rashford is that kind of level, he has the quality to be a top player in any league in Europe. I am a massive fan of Rashford, I'm just not sure it will work out for him in England now."

"The top clubs here have already got lots of strength in depth in this left attacking position, for example Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish at Manchester City, this is another reason why I think that a move out of the country would benefit Marcus Rashford."
