Euro 2024 got underway on Friday as host nation Germany and Scotland kicked off an exhilarating month of tournament football. And the event won’t culminate until Sunday, July 14, when the final kicks off at 8pm at the Olympiastadion Berlin.

And England and Scotland fans not heading to Germany are able to enjoy all the coverage on free-to-air television or radio back in the UK.

Express Sport brings you the lowdown on the best way to follow the tournament, and how supporters of the Three Lions cam make sure they don’t miss a minute of their team in action.

As has been the case for recent major international tournaments, the BBC and ITV will share the broadcast rights for Euro 2024. Games will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer and ITVX, meaning fans don’t necessarily have to be positioned in their own living room to watch live action.

It’s ITV who brought the coverage Friday’s opener, but the BEEB have the bulk of the group games overall with exclusive rights to 21 of the 36 games before the knockout stages take place. From the last 16 onwards, clashes are yet to be designated to either channel, although both stations will show the final and go to head-to-head on viewing figures.

All 51 matches are also being aired on either BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT. Both are available on digital radio, as well as the BBC and talkSPORT apps for those reliant on the internet for coverage.

And for England fans, business really starts this afternoon. Gareth Southgate’s side, one of the favourites to land a first major international tournament in 58 years, being their campaign against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen.

The clash kicks off at 8pm, and the BBC will show it. Their Match of the Day Live coverage will get underway at 7pm, and will run until 10.30pm to incorporate all the post-match reaction.

And it’s Gary Lineker and co who will then bring fans coverage of England’s second group clash against Denmark on Thursday, June 20. That game starts at 5pm, but again the BBC will begin their build-up a full hour beforehand, going live at 4pm.

The Three Lions will then sign off from the group stages on Tuesday, June 25, with an 8pm kick off against Slovenia. This time it is ITV who will bring the coverage, and they are likely to show England’s next match - should they progress - having secured the first pick of the last 16 games.

If as expected, Southgate’s men win the group, England fans will need to keep their diaries free at 5pm on Sunday, June 30. A second placed finish will see them in action the day beforehand instead, with an 8pm start on Friday, June 29.
