Benjamin Sesko has reportedly decided to sign a new contract at RB Leipzig despite previous reports indicating that he had given the green light on a move to Arsenal this summer. All hope is not lost for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, however, as the Slovenian's new deal is understood to include a 'gentleman's agreement' which would simplify a future exit.
Sesko, who turned 21 less than two weeks ago, surged to the top of many teams' attacking wish lists after notching 14 Bundesliga goals for Leipzig last season. With their heart set on a young, promising attacker, Arsenal are believed to have identified the youngster as a top target.
And the admiration was reciprocated as Sesko reportedly decided that the Emirates Stadium would be his preferred destination if he decided to move this summer, snubbing rival interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
The Gunners were reportedly lining up a £45million swoop for the Slovenia international, who will face England in their final Euro 2024 group game on June 25.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano now claims that Sesko has decided to stick with Leipzig for at least another season. The forward has signed improved terms and reached a 'gentleman's agreement' with the German club which should pave the way for a simple departure when all parties decide the time is right.
Despite his tender age, Sesko has already notched 80 senior goals for FC Liefering, RB Salzburg, RB Leipzig and the Slovanian national team. Standing a towering 6ft 5in, there is little doubt he would meet the physical demands of the Premier League.

But his latest decision will force Arsenal to take their striker search elsewhere. Newcastle United star Alexander Isak and Brentford talisman Ivan Toney had both been considered before senior figures at the Emirates decided they were not the right fit.
With younger, less experienced prospects sought out, Joshua Zirkzee emerged as a player with admirers in north London, but the Bologna star is closing in on a move to AC Milan after agreeing a five-year deal with the Rossoneri.
